Self-guided tour

The site of the Gallo-Roman villa of Lalonquette is open to the public all year round, free of charge and free access.

 

Many interpretive panels allow you to stroll through the various spaces that made up the country palace from the 4th century AD. If any questions remain, come and meet the archaeologists and mediators at the Gallo-Roman Museum, they will answer all your questions and present the collections from the various excavation campaigns to you!

Please respect the premises and not throw your rubbish on the ground. If you notice any degradation during your visit, do not hesitate to inform us at 09.67.13.86.69. Thank you for your understanding.

Guided tour

The museum mediators offer to meet you on site for a 1.5 hour guided tour!

 

The Gallo-Roman villa of Lalonquette, which no longer holds any secrets for them, will be revealed to you in the smallest details ... You will first discuss the history of the excavations, the methods of conservation of the remains and the participation. taken adopted from a unique contemporary valuation. Then, you will walk through what was once one of the largest rural settlements in Roman Aquitaine to discover an iconic architectural organization!

"Connected" visit

An audio-guided tour is available for free on the Izi.TRAVEL smartphone application. She will guide you throughout your stroll and complete the content of the interpretation panels.  

The audio tracks are accompanied by various illustrations, such as reproductions in synthetic images or even archival documents from the excavations of the 1960s.

 

To get there

Download the application on your smartphone and enter the name of the municipality in the search bar.

Finally, select the visit entitled "Gallo-Roman Villa of Lalonquette".

It is possible to download the content before your visit and thus avoid the use of mobile data on site.

ACCESS  TO THE SITE

ON FOOT, BY THE TRAIL

(30 to 45 min walk  "one way" - 100m vertical drop)

 

When you arrive in Claracq, put down your vehicle and let yourself be guided by the trail integrated into the local hiking plan. Over a distance of 1,750km, this path will allow you to discover the rural heritage of the village, elements of old architecture and many landscape motifs characteristic of our territory.

We advise you to wear good shoes.

 

BY CAR, FROM THE MUSEUM

(5 minutes)

 

The Villa de Lalonquette is just a few kilometers from the museum. A reception area offers parking, "disabled" places and a turning area for buses.
